Aether studio workspace
Our practice

We design brands the way one might curate a room — remove until only the essential remains, then arrange it so that everything breathes.

Aether was founded in 2014 by a small group of designers who were tired of decoration posing as design. We wanted to build a studio where the work came first, where the portfolio was small by choice, and where every project — no matter the scale — was treated as a chance to do our most considered work.

Today we work across identity, web, editorial, and motion, often in collaboration with founders, curators, and in-house teams. We do not chase trends, and we do not take on more than we can do well. The result is a body of work we are proud to put our name on, and a list of clients who keep coming back.

02 — Principles

Four things we believe.

◇

Restraint is a feature

The strongest work happens when nothing can be removed without losing meaning. We edit until the design feels inevitable.

○

Systems outlast artifacts

A logo fades; a system adapts. We build visual languages flexible enough to live across formats, teams, and decades.

△

Slow is a strategy

We resist the pressure to ship the obvious. The right solution often arrives a week after the convenient one.

□

Clarity over cleverness

Wit has its place. But a brand is a conversation, and conversations die when nobody knows what is being said.

03 — Process

How the work happens.

/ 01

Listen

A two-week immersion: interviews, audits, and a written brief that we both sign off on. No design begins until we agree on what we are solving.

·
/ 02

Map

We sketch the territory — competitive landscape, audience, voice, and the unspoken instincts that shape a brand. Then we propose directions.

·
/ 03

Make

Two or three directions explored in depth, narrowed to one, refined until it sings. We share weekly and keep the conversation tight.

·
/ 04

Hand off

A documented system — not just files. Guidelines, templates, and a launch call with whoever will carry the work forward.

·

04 — People

The hands behind the work.
